How to Make a Claim

It's as easy as contacting us and advising what has happened.

Lodge a Claim

We will advise you of the claims process and assist you through the next steps.  We provide a full claims service to ensure our clients receive prompt and efficient settlement on their insurance claims.

As soon as possible after the event that causes the loss or damage, or liability, please:

  • Take reasonable steps to minimise, reduce, preserve the damage.
  • Do not admit any liability or at fault.
  • Where appropriate, inform the police about:  any malicious damage, theft, or accidental loss of valuables.

How do i make a claim?

What information will i need?

When contacting ourselves, we will have all your policy details on hand.

When utilising an Insurer providing direct access claims assistance, you will generally need to provide the following details:

  • your policy number
  • standard information to identify yourself
  • the name of the insured on the policy
  • detailed description of the incident
  • the date of loss and the loss address
  • any details of other parties involved (if applicable).
What happens when i make a claim?

Once you’ve made a claim enquiry with your broker, we will lodge the claim with your insurance company.

The insurance company will issue ourselves a claim number, to be used as ongoing reference throughout the claim.

We will advise you of follow up documents and requirements and keep you updated over the status of your claim and next steps.

 

What documents will i need?

Certain documents and information can assist us lodging, assessing and settling your claim. Some examples of documents you can provide to help us include:

  • Photos
  • Proof of Loss
  • Receipts
  • Valuation certificates
  • Credit card or bank statements
  • User manuals
  • Police reports
  • Repair quotes
Will i need to pay an excess?

Most often, yes. An excess is the amount you may have to pay toward a claim. There are different excesses that apply depending on the claim you’re making and the terms of your insurance policy with us.

Your excess amount is always shown on your insurance schedule/invoice, and we will advise you if any uncertainty over the amount, and the payment method.

Many insurers operate a 'call direct' claims lodgement system, to expedite your claims assistance.  Contact numbers are listed below.

When you call

When you call Insurers direct (after our initial advice), you will be asked for:

Your policy number or personal contact details, and the contact details of anyone involved in an incident (including their name, current address, vehicle registration details, phone number and insurance details if known)

Any letters, notices or court documents about the incident, and the incident report number for any claims in relation to theft or attempted theft, vandalism or a malicious act (the police will provide you with this number when you report the incident to them.

You can help the claims process by:

  • Taking photos of damage to your property
  • Keeping damaged property and items so we can inspect and assess the damage if required
  • Getting in touch with us as soon as possible to make a claim
